Art In The Park Association of Stratford
Rules and Regulations
(last updated for 2009)

1. Requirements
Members are required to:
a) be a permanent Canadian resident
b) carry a vendor's permit
c)pay the City of Stratford Trader's Fee and a membership fee to the Association which must reach the Treasurer by September 30th to re-new for the following season, otherwise membership is considered to be expired, and the artist is required to re-apply and be re-juried to return
d)personally show your own original work, as accepted in the jury process, or designate a family member or another Association member in your absence
e) lodge complaints in written form to the executive and act upon the executive's decision
f) check in with the attendance secretary each showing day and initial the attendance book
g) obtain correspondence. receipts etc. from the secretary/treasurer on your first attendance day
h) demonstrate, if possible, your medium at your display, otherwise be prepared to explain your technique
i) attend and show, or be prepared to show, at least ten days throughout the season or be required to re-apply and be re-juried to return. Attendance for full days is expected, a “full day” defined as being from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m
j) All members showing on the day of the annual general meeting must attend the meeting or they will be required to re-apply and be re-juried to return.

2. Rules: Enforcing, Making
Rules have been made partly by the Association and partly by the City of Stratford. The Executive enforces the rules on behalf of the Association and reserves the right to:

a)limit the number of exhibitor members due to available space
b) limit the number of exhibitor members of the same or similar media
c) suspend membership, with forfeiture of fees paid, for a member who, after two warnings, continues to disobey these rules.
3. Original Prints & Photographs:
a) All prints must be signed and numbered in a limited edition not to exceed 250.
b) Photographers shall make prints from their original negatives, positives, or digital images. All photographs must be signed and numbered by the artist in a limited edition not to exceed 250.
Reproductions
Reproductions of an artist's own original work may be shown with the following limits:

a) The number of reproductions must not exceed 15% of the total number of original works on display at any time during the showing day. For example, if an artist has 20 original works on display, 3 reproductions may be shown, bringing the number of pieces on display to 23.
b) All reproductions must be signed and numbered.
c) Hasti-notes may be shown if the artist also shows at least 10 original works.

5. Work not allowed
a) Work deemed unacceptable to the City of Stratford
b) Work that originates from commercial patterns or kits
c) Clothing
d) Needlework, knitting, crotchet
e) Ceramics from commercial molds.
6. Display areas
a) An individual display area is chosen by the member on a first-come, first-choice basis.
b) Each exhibitor must confine their own area to a reasonable size and must respect space of other exhibitors as well as ensure that the traffic flow is not interrupted.
c) Saving spaces for members who have not arrived is forbidden.
7.
Unloading, Setting Up & Parking
Unloading and parking regulations are strictly enforced by the Association, as well as by the city police. Compliance is mandatory. Non-compliance has the potential to jeopardize the entire Association’s permission from the City of Stratford to show in the park.
In no-parking areas:
a) Unload with flashers on, as quickly as possible
b) Set up your display after your vehicle is legally parked
c) Parking, unloading in the condominium lot is prohibited
d) Driving, parking on the grass is prohibited.
8. Activities not permitted
a) keeping pets at the site of Art in the Park
b) advertising at your display for other shops or galleries (discreet ads for other shows are acceptable)
c) using park benches, picnic tables, trees to exhibit
d) using canopies or shelters (shade umbrellas are permitted
e) demeaning the work of other exhibitors to the public
f) displaying "sale" or "end of season" specials signs at their exhibit.
9. Damage, Liability
a) Damage to display items caused either by accident or weather is the responsibility of the member.
b) Liability insurance is carried by the Association to cover accidents to the public caused by an exhibitor who is complying with the rules, or by their exhibit.
